Science without Borders (Ciência sem Fronteiras)
Science without Borders (Ciência sem Fronteiras) is a large-scale Brazilian Federal Government scholarship programme which aims to send 100 thousand Brazilian students and researchers for one year of undergraduate study, PhD internships, full-time PhDs, postdoctoral and professional education awards, senior fellowships and visiting researchers/scholars to study abroad at the world's best universities.
Students studying in one of the following fields will be given preference to receive this scholarship: science, technology, engineering or mathematics
How to apply
Brazilian students must fill out an enrollment application form by visiting the CAPAS (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior ) website and follow the procedure stated in the announcement concerning the programme for which you want to compete.
To participate in this program Brazilian students must be currently attending a college or university in Brazil and be nominated by that school, then approved by CAPES or CNPq. Students must fill out an enrollment application form by visiting the CAPAS (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior ) website or CNPq website (Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico) and follow the procedure stated in the announcement concerning the programme for which you want to compete.
After enrolment confirmation student must request via e-mail for a letter of acceptance by the University of Agriculture in Krakow. The student must also fill in an application form and sent to one of the contact person
PhD and Post-doctorateThe Science Without Borders Programme offers you two ways of undertaking postgraduate research study:
- Study through a ‘Sandwich PhD’ where you can spend 6-12 months of your current research PhD time in the UK with one of our experts
- Study a full PhD study programme for 3-4 years.
Candidates must choose their own Doctorate degree programme by reviewing which ones are available on the CAPAS website. They must also request an assessment of their own application directly from the professor responsible of the programme they have chosen. In case of a positive response, the professor in charge will write an acceptance letter to the applicant.
The research lines and subjects that the Brazilian Government is keen to promote are:
- Engineering and other technological areas
- Pure and Natural Sciences
- Sustainable Agricultural Production
- Renewable Energy
- Nanotechnology and New Materials
- Technology for prevention and mitigation of natural disasters
- Biodiversity and bioprospection
- New technologies for constructive engineering
- Formation of technical personel

Brazilian students and researchers wishing to study or conduct research in Poland should follow the regular application procedure for study/work permits.
